A group of women prepare cous-cous in the village of oasis of Maaden el Ervane, in the Adrar region of Mauritania, on June 21, 2024. Located between mountains and dunes, the Oasis of Maaden el Ervane was founded with the aim of creating an autonomous community which has become nowadays a flagship for agroecology. The founder of the village, the Imam of the Sufi Tijjânya brotherhood Cheikh Mohamed Lemine Sidina, made this current of Islam a distinctive character of the village, preaching welcome, equality and mutual support.
