Senegal. The House of Slaves (Maison des Esclaves) and its Door of No Return is a museum and memorial to the Atlantic Slave Trade on tiny Goree Island, 3 km off the coast of the city of Dakar. It memorialises the final exit point of the slaves from Africa through the No return door on the Atlantic ocean. The island is half an hour distant from Dakar by boat. The none returned door. Slaves were parked on the island before their departure on ships to the new world. They were supposed to leave the island by the door. opening to the sea.
