Dhab, Jharkhand, India: A villager standing on top of bags filled with illegal mica. In Dhab, a rural village of 2,000 people in the poor Indian state of Jharkhand, mining mica is not only a job, but a way of life. Here, people were born and raised mining mica since generations. Mica is so common it can be found in every backyard, stored in buckets or in sacks, ready to be collected by the agents who buy and sell it in the bigger city of Jhumri Tilaiya, 30-km-away.
